Giving & Receiving Feedback as a Team

Suggested Strategy: Behavioral-Based Coaching in a group setting: making sure that the group can give and receive feedback with confidence and conviction

Suggested Questions:

Î Rating Question: On a scale of one to six, with six representing unrelenting confidence, and one represents some hesitation or reluctance, where would you rate your ability to give feedback? How about receiving feedback? What actions can we take together to help you reach a six? Î Risk Question: What risks do we mitigate as a team by making sure the group is equally successful in giving and receiving feedback?

Suggested Activities:

ΠWhiteboard Coaching: On the left side of the board, write down how the group would describe their current ability to give and receive feedback to each other. On the right side of the board, write down the ideal description of what it looks like to give and receive feedback well. Erase the left side and then write down the group’s ideas of actions to take to help them reach the level of comfortability that they had defined on the right side of the board. ΠRole Play: Pair up the members of the group, give them an example of giving positive feedback and have them role play that situation with each other. After, have them give the other person feedback to the group on how what their partner did well. Then, give them an example situation of giving feedback on an opportunity to improve
