might look like in their position. Then, erase the left side of the board (signifying that you are moving past their current state) and brainstorm together the actions that the individual must take to reach the ideal state on the right side of the board and how those actions will attribute to their ultimate success.
Suggested Learning Projects:
Î Observational Coaching: Assign your coaching target to observe their peers throughout the coming week, noting the actions of their peers related to the area that the individual you are coaching is working to improve. What takeaways from their observations can the individual put into practice on their own as they work to make improvements in the area they had identified? What did they learn from observing their peers that they did not know before related to their area of improvement? How do their peers find success in their actions/behaviors/abilities that the individual you are coaching strives to reach? Discuss their observations at your next coaching session. Î Journal-Based Coaching: Ask the individual to keep a journal with entries noting situations during the week where they were faced with the area of improvement that they had identified. What actions did they take in that situation to help them on the path to reaching ultimate success? What was their driving force behind their actions? What was the outcome of their actions in those situations? They should note both successes and struggles in their journal entries.
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
Π30-Second Coaching: Take 30 seconds of your day to verbally acknowledge the individual’s efforts to improve their area of
opportunity. Be specific in sharing with them which actions you had observed, and how those actions will help put them on the fast track to reaching their set goals and reaching ultimate success.
