Suggested Learning Projects:
Î Tangible Successes: Assign your coaching target to come back to your next coaching session with three examples of efforts made to bring themselves closer to their goal that you had discussed earlier in your coaching session. What specific actions did they take, and what did they notice in their awareness of where they stand as an employee? Î Peer-to-Peer Coaching: Ask the employee to sit down with a peer once a week to discuss progress in their current projects and how they feel they are progressing in their positions with the company. What strategies could both parties take to continue their progression forward toward their goals? How does their peer track their goals?
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
Î 30-Second Coaching: Take 30 seconds of your day to verbally acknowledge progression by this individual in their position with the company, mentioning to them the specific efforts that they have made in order to make their progress tangible. Î Journal-Based Coaching: Ask the individual to keep a journal throughout the coming weeks noting times where they may feel stuck in their progress, as well as what actions they could take to become “unstuck”. They should also note times where they feel confident in their progress and what actions they had taken to reach that point. This provides an opportunity to allow for them to also think outwardly on the effect their actions are having on their progress.
