Suggested Strategy: Use a Define & Coach Strategy to help the team understand what is expected of them regarding cohesion by you as their manager and by the company as a whole. Execute this conversation in a group coaching setting.
Suggested Questions:
Î Define & Coach: When I say the phrase great team cohesion , what definition would you assign to it? Î Third-Party Question: How do you think other teams would describe our team in relation to that definition? Î Self-Actualized Question: What actions could we take collectively as a team to help us practice that definition among members of our team?
Suggested Activities:
Î GOAL-Based Coaching: What is our number one goal as a team?What do we need to become Great at as a cohesive team to reach that goal? What Opportunities might become afforded to us by becoming great? What Actions do we need to take as a cohesive team to bring those opportunities within reach? What will you all Love about reaching this goal? Î Learning Project Prep: Pair up members of the team for the Learning Project — ask the individuals to find a partner that is someone that they wouldn’t normally work with on the team.

Î Self-Directed Learning: Ask the members of the team to read one chapter per week of the book Our Iceberg is Melting by John Kotter.
