Suggested Learning Projects:
Î Success Imperative: Ask the individual to come back to your next coaching session with five things that they learned about five individuals on their team that they did not know about them before. What strategy did they take to learn this new information? How has taken the time to get to learn this information helped to build a stronger and more positive relationship with these individuals? Î Peer-to-Peer Coaching: Assign your coaching target to meet with a new peer each week to discuss their strategies for getting to know their teams. How well do their peers feel that they know the individuals o n their teams and what steps have they taken to build these relationships? What takeaways from the discussions can the person you are coaching put into place in their own strategy for learning more about the individuals on their team? They should email you after each peer meeting, copying the peer they met with on the email, sharing their findings and what they learned from their peer about building relationships with their teams and getting to know the folks that they work with every day.
Supplemental Coaching Strategies:
Î Non-Verbal Coaching: As the individual learns more about their team and you notice more positive relationships being built, leave the individual a handwritten note at their workstation to share with them the actions and efforts you have observed them taking to do so. You should also let them know how their actions and efforts are appreciated and are beneficial to the team.
