Authenticity & Trust
Suggested Strategy: Help coach your employee on the art of authenticity by highlighting skills and techniques that assist in being genuine.
Suggested Questions:
Î Third-Party Question: If your best friend were here right now and they had to tell you if you are being authentic or not, what would they say and why? Î Risk Question: What risk do you assume by not being authentic and genuine with your teammates and employees? Î Success Imperative: What will you do successfully learn the skills and techniques that allow you to be genuine in the workplace?
Suggested Activities:
ΠRole Play: Go through a scenario with your target employee where you feel that being genuine would serve as a tool to build trust. Then, after the role play, have the employee go through what they felt they did well, what they could improve on, and things they didn’t think of until after. Use this as a tool to guide your employee on their expectations for empathy in the weeks to come. ΠObservational Coaching: Have the employee observe a teammate that demonstrates genuine and authentic interactions in the proper time and place throughout the week and journal how it interacts with their job responsibilities. Then, have the employee make note in their journal two things that they did well that reflect your discussion from the role play activity, one thing they would do differently, and any questions they have.
