Resistant to Change
Green Light: Let’s Get Going
1. When it comes to resistance to change, a simple activity is to write out their responses to the following question on a whiteboard so they can visualize them: What are two or three experiences that have prompted you to be resistant to change void of your present workload?
Yellow Light: Needs Attention
1. When someone demonstrates a lack of ability to embrace change, provide them statements such as: what if we change the word resistant to resilience when it comes to change, how would that serve you well? 2. Give them time to think about it and take a break to allow time to do a wonderful thing for them to really be honest with themselves, since most people don’t take the time to critically think about change.
Red Light: Needs Immediate Attention
1. Typically at this stage if someone is still fighting change, it could be\ a behavioral component or maybe a lack of skill component. Lead with the statement and question such as: We need to embrace the change that is upon us as time is becoming more and more scarce. Hearing that, what are you willing to do and what do you think you can do to quickly erode the fight of change and embrace it for the good of the team? This is a loaded question and we encourage you to use a whiteboard so they can visualize their responses.
