A major suggestion is to facilitate the supplemental coaching and then to follow it up with questions of what they learned and activities where they have the opportunity to demonstrate what can now be applied. It is a major suggestion not to simply subscribe supplemental coaching and leave it alone , meaning you have to ask questions afterwards of what they learned and what they successfully applied as a result of the learning. How to Use Supplemental Coaching When Progress is Slower/Stalled 1. A simple suggestion when progress is slow or stalled it’s to increase the cadence of supplemental coaching. One major suggestion is to use the mentoring technique of somebody you feel can add value to your coaching relationship with the person or persons being coached. The general rule was one to two supplemental coaching strategies to support what you’re doing directly; whereas, you may need to go to two to three if not 4 as long as they work in congruence with one another to regain progress. 2. Another major suggestion is to use journaling where people write down daily where they’re progressing and where they feel stalled and then create a cadence where they can share those entries that will serve as a valuable reference to maintain an intense focus on progress and barriers.
