Communication

Suggestions to Start

1. Ideally, it’s best to have a definition of professional and thoughtful communication as it relates to your business. Once that definition has been created, send it out to the team or the person(s) being coached asking them to share two things they do well to support the definition, and one area where they have an opportunity to improve. 2. After the initial activity, have everybody share with the rest of the team using vulnerable coaching as to what they’re doing in terms of actions to continue to support the definition of communication. (Vulnerable coaching is where the coach recognizes there is no need to answer and acts more as a sounding board as the person(s) you are coaching guides the discussion.)

More Aggressive Suggestions

1. Create four to six items a person(s) being coached can improve when it comes to communication and provide them with a mentor who will challenge them on each of the topic areas by role-playing and practicing on a biweekly basis. 2. Create case studies of poor communication and send them out to pairs of two, with each team formulating strategies as to what they would do with improved communication specific to the case study. Feel free to turn this into a contest rewarding the best team.
