Trust
Suggestions to Start
1. Create a definition of trust and you can do this with the person(s) you’re coaching. After the definition has been agreed to and established, ask people what their strengths are and where they have opportunities to improve their trust and what they would like to see from trust. 2. After the first activity has been completed, create a standing learning project where the person(s) you are coaching e-mail you weekly specific things they did to support the definition of trust.
More Aggressive Suggestions
1. Typically, trust is broken when people are not having conversations directly or are through candor. Assign the book Crucial Conversations (by Joseph Grenny & Kerry Patterson) and create a rule after reading each chapter they must go to the source when there are challenges with relationships or work, and not to the third-party people to vent. 2. The combination of the book and expected expectations specific to going to the source will create greater trust long term.
