Poor Performance
Suggestions to Start
1. When somebody is exhibiting poor performance, the critical thing in the beginning is to facilitate activities of positivity that demonstrate or at least ignite their effort. No matter the activity, we advise to praise their effort to turn things around. 2. Have the person(s) you are coaching to ask teammates where they can improve their performance and what they might be willing to do to help them. The rule of engagement is they can only say “thank you” and not rebuttal the feedback. This will not be easy for most people.
More Aggressive Suggestions
1. The key is to truly understand where the poor performance is coming from specific to what is inhibiting the performance. Is it time- management, discipline, perhaps a lack of motivation, etc? 2. Once this has been established, find videos (YouTube, etc.) and send them on a weekly basis. After each video have the person send back to you what they took away from the video and one action they’re going to put into motion as a result of observing the video.
