Suggestions to Start

1. There is no greater teacher when dealing with conflict than practice. Make sure the person(s) you are coaching understand how to have conversations of conflict thoughtfully and professionally and without high blood pressure (without emotion). If you have a methodology the key is to have them practice it with peers on a relentless basis. 2. The repetition of practice will serve them well. This is an area that typically can diffuse someone’s ability to lead very quickly if they are not confident and willing to have those conversations.

More Aggressive Suggestions

1. Set up peer-to-peer coaching conversations, practicing conversations from the book Crucial Conversations . After people practice, have them send you feedback on what their partner did well and where they have an opportunity to improve, which will help you in terms of your direct coaching.
