From that moment on I knew I’d do anything -- anything -- to keep you safe. Maybe when you have kids someday you’ll understand. A long silence. Millie flips through Henry’s old journal. MILLIE Anything in here about where the hell he went? John pulls the letter out from his father. JOHN Not in there. John opens the letter he’s been carrying. As he reads, his voice fades and is replaced by his father’s voice (brought to life by the original Henry Winchester actor, Gil Mckinney). JOHN/HENRY

“As I write this, you’re asleep in your room. Your Mom down in the garage. I pray you never see this letter. But... if you are reading it, then I’m gone, son. I’m sorry I kept the truth from you. There’s a whole other world out there. A dangerous world. Winchesters have fought that danger for centuries. Head to the address below. This key will gain you entry. And answer all your questions. Remember, John, as long as there’s a Winchester alive, there’s hope. Listen to your Mother. And know that I love you both. Always. Henry.”

Tears streak down Millie’s face. Not the reaction John expected. He opens his mouth to say something, but nothing comes out. Millie takes the letter. Holds it delicately. Her hand instinctively traces along her husband’s hand-writing. MILLIE

I pictured it a thousand different ways. What I’d say. How many times I’d hit him.
