THE GUILD COLLECTION BY BURLINGTON TAKES INSPIRATION FROM THE ARTS AND CRAFTS DESIGN MOVEMENT OF THE LATE 19TH CENTURY. The birth of the Arts and Crafts movement in Britain in the late 19th century marked the beginning of a change in the value society placed on how things were made. This was a reaction to the effects of industrialisation and machine-dominated production. Arts and Crafts reformed the design and manufacture of everything from buildings to furniture to jewellery. Its leaders wanted to develop products with more integrity, focused on craftsmanship and less ornate designs than the previous era.
