2.4 Synchronous belts will not slip, and therefore must be belted for the highest loadings anticipated in the system. A minimum service factor of 2.0 is recommended for equipment subject to chocking. Pitch Lengths: Standard belt pitch lengths, belt length designations, and numbers of teeth are shown in Table 42. Belt length tolerances are also given in this table; these tolerances apply to all belt sections and represent the total manufacturing tolerance on belt length. Nominal Tooth Dimensions: Table 40 shows the nominal tooth dimensions for each of the standard belt sections. Tooth dimensions for single- and double-sided belts are identical.
