… Materials: Some of the more popular tubing materials are polyvinyl chloride (PVC), low density polyethylene (LDPE), high density polyethylene (HDPE), polypropylene (PP), nylon (PA 6, 6/6, 11, 12), silicone, polyurethane, fluoropolymers (PTFE, FEP, PFA, PVDF, ETFE), and polyetheretherketone (PEEK). PEX tube is also common in Europe for water applications. PVC can be rigid or flexible, and can be transparent. Exposure to water can cause cloud ing of clear PVC over time. Flexibility will depend on the amount of plasticizer present, so a variety of durometers are available. Flexible PVC is rated for fairly low pressures, unless reinforced with braiding. LDPE is low cost, light weight, relatively transparent, and flexible. It is suitable for air, water, and some chemicals. Caution should be used when barbed fittings are employed
