24 All dimensions are given in inches and are for 1 diametral pitch. For other pitches divide tabular values by desired diametral pitch. Add to the standard outside diameter of the pinion the amount given in the second column of the table divided by the desired diametral pitch, and (to maintain standard center distance) subtract the same amount from the outside diameter of the mating gear. Long addendum pinions will mesh with standard gears, but the center distance will be greater than standard.
