How to choose a hedge trimmer Power – Determining the best product for the job depends on the sort of hedge you have. For hedges that are cut regularly or branches that are quite thin, a lower powered hedge trimmer should be suitable. If your hedges are quite dense then choose a model with more power. Blade length – If you have a small hedge choose a blade under 50cm. For larger hedges, the longer the blade the more you can cut so choose one of the larger products. Teeth Spacing – The space between the teeth dictates the thickness of the branches you can cut. The more space between the teeth, the thicker the branches you can cut.
