Something to Make By DORIS SM ITH

Have you seen the pretty shelf paper that can be purchased in many of the stores today? Some of it is decorated with v e g e t a b l e s , and some with flowers or pretty scenes. No inatter what the decoration is, there are many possibilities for clever fingers to make gifts with this paper for Mother on Mother’s Day. You can buy a package of cor respondence cards and envelopes at the dime store for ten cents., Cut the pictures from the shelf paper and paste one in the upper left-hand cor ner of each of the cards. Either a vegetable or floral set may be made. You might choose to make a number showing the scenes. When you have finished pasting and the cards are dry, use a pretty ribbon to tie them in a package with the envelopes. This gift will be sure to please Mother. A basket or flowerpot cut from brown paper will be very pretty filled with vegetables or flowers cut from the shelf paper. Your Sunday School teacher might like to give you one for your basket for every Bible verse you learn. The scallops and borders of wall paper are also useful. These can be used to decorate notebooks, or to make frames for pictures cut from maga zines. Mother would find one of the notebooks useful to keep her cooking recipes in; and a pretty picture neatly framed would help to make her room attractive.

Mother, God’s Gift “ God sent the birds and sunshine To gladden all the world, He sent the foliage and flowers In radiance unfurled; He sent the June, the stars, the moon, The pearly dewdrops sweet; And then He sent you, Mother dear, To make it all complete.” —Selected.
