A commendable proposal was made at a. mass-meeting of one of the peace organizations cpnvening in Santa Mohiea, Calif. This calls upon all faiths to unite in a day of prayer in behalf of the forthcoming United Na tions peace conference soon to open in San Francisco. While it is true that we believe the Bible does not teach that lasting peace will be, brought abbut by any. such agreement among nations, there is the definite command that Christians are to pray for “kings and all , that, are in authority.” The promise is given too “ that we may live a quiet and pèaceful life in all god liness and honesty” (1 Tim. 2:2). We wonder sometimes if the lack of a quiet and peaceable life is not traceable to the failure of God’s’ children to thus remember in definite and concerted prayer the needs of our leaders. Surely, with the San Franesico con ference so near at hand the prayer warrior should autoihatically recog nize the need, and pray accordingly.
