On a taper thread, the minor diameter at a given position on the thread axis is that of the minor cone at that position. Neck: A section of reduced diameter between two adjacent portions of a tool. Pitch: The distance from any point on a screw thread to a corresponding point in the next thread, measured parallel to the axis and on the same side of the axis.
