Step 4: Total Coils TC = AC + 2 (Table 3) = 9 + 2 = 11 Therefore, a quick answer is: 11 coils of 0.0915 inch diameter wire. However, the design procedure should be completed by carrying out these remaining steps: Step 5: From Table 3, Solid Height = SH = TC 3 d = 11 3 0.0915 @ 1 inch Therefore, Total Deflection = FL − SH = 1.5 inches
