HEALT TREAT YO
Next up: a job. “What do you like to do?” Shaq asked. The man said he used to work in landscaping. So, Shaq called a friend who owned a lawn service and got the man a job. In 10 minutes, he completely changed the trajectory of that father’s life. ... continued from Cover
The man came back to thank Shaq two years later, and “he was very, very successful,” Shaq says. He hired the man to mow his own lawn in Orlando.
While many of our customers’ favorite products sell well year-round, some have a distinctly “springtime” feel. That is the case with Archies Arch Support Flip-Flops and Slides.
From that encounter, Shaq says, “I learned that pressure is when you don’t know where your next meal is coming from.” And from that point on, Shaq made a lifelong habit of being generous.
This fashionable footwear checks all the boxes. People who work on their feet can wear Archies footwear in comfort all day. They are stylish, available in all colors of the rainbow, durable, and resistant to the strap breaks that cause other flip-flops to fail. All while being as light as a feather. Moreover, Archies provides the same support as a typical orthotic. This resolves a painful summertime dilemma for people who wear orthotics or suffer
In the years that followed, the 7-foot-1 NBA star certainly showed he could handle pressure on the court. By his
retirement in 2011, he had proven himself one of the
greatest players in the game. Despite his good fortune, however, Shaq still doesn’t shop with the elite; he goes to the same big-box stores as middle- income consumers. And he never shops without surprising other shoppers by buying them something, too.
from flat feet or knee pain. While others can toss their shoes and don cheap plastic flip-flops, these patients cannot tolerate the pronation and joint pain that conventional flip-flops can cause. Archies flip-flops were designed by a physical therapist who had seen firsthand the hazards of generic, flat flip-flops. He was the first to market a safe, biomechanically sound footwear
PAYING IT FORWARD The values Shaq’s dad instilled in him are the same ones I hope to instill in my 5-year-old son, Bennett. All of us have different gifts, and I’ve been blessed financially. As I have made more, I’ve tried to give more to others. At a restaurant recently, Marah, Bennett, and I all appreciated our waitress, who was extraordinarily skilled and kind. Bennett, who has seen me leave big gratuities, announced as we were leaving, “I’m going to give her a tip.” He has this little wallet where he keeps his money. He reached inside, pulled out a $20, and walked up and handed it to her. Marah and I told the waitress, “Just so you know, that’s his money.” We could see by the look on her face that she was deeply touched: That $20 he gave her might as well have been $1 million! By the look on Bennett’s face, I’m guessing he was experiencing the rewards, too. I was so grateful to see my son giving all that he had earned to help another. For our family, as for Shaq, practicing kindness made that a great day.
option that compares well in style, color, and innovative materials. Archies are made of closed-cell foam with a patented footbed that conforms to the shape of the wearer’s foot, cradling and supporting the arches.
A snug strap holds the flip-flops on without forcing the wearer to curl their toes, reducing strain on the muscles and tendons of the feet. Additionally, the flip-flops’ one-piece design prevents the strap from breaking away from the footbed, reducing the risk of sprained ankles. The overall effect is a more biomechanically correct posture, which reduces hip and knee pain and eases plantar fasciitis.
