Sen. André Jacque
Santina Wortman
Wisconsin Senator André Jacque has been a member of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Legislative Caucus since 2017. He served on the Birkholz Institute Steering Committee in 2019 and participated in the institute as a Birkholz Fellow. As chair of the GLLC’s Task Force on Nutrient Management, Sen. Jacque serves ex-officio on the Executive Committee. First elected to the Wisconsin Assembly in 2010, he served there until 2018, when he won his current seat in the Wisconsin Senate. In the Legislature’s current session, he serves as Chair of the Senate Committee on Local Government, Small Business, Tourism and Workforce Development and Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Information Policy and Technology, and Vice-Chair of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety. He was a member of the Speaker’s Task Force on Water Quality.
Santina Wortman is a Physical Scientist in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Great Lakes National Program Office working on nutrients management and nonpoint source control programs. She has a lead role in coordinating with Canada and states to fulfill the objectives of the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement, specifically the development of phosphorus-reduction targets and domestic action plans to minimize harmful algae blooms in Lake Erie. She also assists with budget planning, prioritization, and selection of nonpoint source control projects under the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. She earned a Master of Science degree in Earth and Environmental Sciences from the University of Illinois.
