Things to look forward to in Chanhassen in 2026
The year ahead will bring new parks, trail connections, community spaces and long-planned improvements across the city. From major construction milestones to exciting recreation opportunities, here are ten things to look forward to in 2026.
The new downtown destination park will take shape on the former City Hall site with a playground, music stage, splash fountain, skate park, pickleball courts and spaces for connection and community gathering.
Work (by Hennepin County) will begin on the Mill Street trail connection between downtown Excelsior and Holly Lane, creating a safer link for people walking, biking or rolling to and from the Chanhassen trail system.

The full Galpin Boulevard reconstruction will wrap up, delivering safer intersections, smoother pavement, improved utilities and continuous multi-use trails from Highway 5 to the northern city boundary.
Lake Ann Park Preserve improvements will continue with trail connections, restoration work and the Greenwood Shores parking area, moving the city closer to a future Lake Ann loop trail.

A new dining guide will spotlight local restaurants, hidden gems and resident favorites, making it easier to explore new spots and support Chanhassen’s growing food scene.
The Lake Ann Beach trail will receive planned upgrades that improve access, safety and the overall experience for residents visiting the lake and surrounding parkland.

Chanhassen will celebrate America’s 250 th birthday with added 4 th of July programming that honors this milestone while keeping the long- standing traditions residents love.
Parks and Recreation will launch a new video series that highlights staff, programs, events and participants while offering a behind-the-scenes look at the city’s recreation system.

Construction has begun on a 412-unit apartment complex in the Avienda district, adding upscale housing with indoor amenities, outdoor courtyards, a pool, pet areas and a public trail loop.
The Chanhassen Bluffs Community Center will break ground with two sheets of ice, a fieldhouse, indoor playground, fitness space and gathering areas that anchor a modern community hub.
