COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

2050 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

Planning today for the Chanhassen of tomorrow

Every ten years, cities across the metro are required to update their Comprehensive Plans to guide how they grow and evolve. Chanhassen’s next plan, known as the 2050 Comprehensive Plan, will shape decisions about land use, roads, water systems, housing, parks, trails and natural resources. This long range plan sets the direction for how the city will manage change, support quality of life and invest in the things that make Chanhassen a community for life.

What it is The Comprehensive Plan is a roadmap for future growth across nearly every part of the city. It covers land use, local surface water, sanitary sewer, potable water infrastructure, housing, transportation, parks, trails and natural resources.

Why it matters The plan guides nearly every major city decision, from where new neighborhoods or parks are built to how the city protects lakes and open spaces. It ensures that growth happens thoughtfully and sustainably, in line with city policy and resident priorities.
