Northwestern Louisiana near Bossier City. She came to Houston in the late 1970’s and began working in the oil and gas industry as a land contractor for small oil and gas companies. She continued until gaining the experience needed to specialize in lease analysis and finally, Division Orders. She pursued this profession for the next two decades with a variety of companies of various sizes until reaching the position of Vice President of Land and Division Order with Continental Operation Company in 1998. During this time she became actively involved in HADOA and NADOA, serving in a variety of positions in each, including President of both (HADOA-1987 and NADOA-1998) and she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from each of these organizations. Brenda also served as NADOA Annual Institute Coordinator in 1999, which was held in Galveston, TX. Brenda loved NADOA and volunteering to work on association events and she and Pete were mainstays at Institutes spanning those years. In 2000 Brenda accompanied her husband, Pete Johnson, on overseas assignments. Upon returning to Houston in 2008, she continued working in the petroleum land business in both contract and permanent positions for a variety of companies until late 2019. Brenda went to be with our Lord on October 25, 2020 after a lengthy illness. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Pete Johnson, her brother Michael Beckman of Pearland, her sister Patsy Beckman of Shreveport, Louisiana, her sons Allen and Anthony Mizell, and four grandchildren. Brenda was a happy, loyal, hardworking individual who went out of her way to help others resolve problems. She was a cheerful addition to any group and will be sorely missed by those who knew her.

Weda Pugh (Robinson) Watts

Weda passed away on September 10, 2020. Weda worked for oil and gas companies most of her career, beginning as a secretary and eventually starting her own company. Weda served on the NADOA Board as a director in 1984 and 1985, Corresponding Secretary in 1987, Second Vice President in 1988, First Vice President in 1989, President in 1990 and Board Advisor in 1991. During her term as President, Weda steered the association through difficult financial times and displayed the fiscal responsibility that her family says was also part of her private life (a/k/a a knack for “pinching pennies”). Weda was not hesitant to speak her mind and had a great sense of humor, both of which stood her in good stead as leader of NADOA. The 1990 Annual Institute was held in Phoenix, AZ, which despite a power outage was a very successful educational event. Prior to retirement, Weda was active in Houston professional organizations. Switching gears upon retiring, she remained active in her church, Homeowner’s Association, Woman’s League and charitable organizations. In retirement, she played golf and enjoyed travelling, although she didn’t like to fly and drove everywhere she went. Weda is survived by her husband, Bennett Watts, daughter, Rebecca Henson, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Our sympathies go out to Weda’s family and many friends.
