Essentials of Marksmanship and Combat Shooting

This textbook covers topics in firearms and ammunition education. It consists of four chapters. Chapter 1 is a short introduction to the development of firearms. Chapter 2 deals with safety and firearms education, which is divided into five lessons that include the following: pistol safety, parts, and operation; ammunition; basics of marksmanship and combat shooting: pistol shooting; and pistol stripping, cleaning, and storage. Chapter 3 is for the actual live fire exercises, which will be performed at the firing range. Chapter 4 deals with the different firearm laws, rules, and regulations. This textbook aims to help readers develop their skills, knowledge, and attitudes toward operating a firearm safely.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

DARIO FAWAGAN GUINAYEN

He has been in the academe for almost 21 years. He is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Criminology at the Baguio Colleges Foundation (now University of the Cordilleras) in 1996 and Master of Science in Criminology at the University of Baguio (UB) in 2011. He is a former faculty member and department chairman of the Department of Criminology of the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) from June 1999 to November 2018. He is currently an assistant professor at the University of the Cordilleras-College of Criminal Justice Education (UC-CCJE). With his training experiences and expertise, he is a sought-after lecturer and speaker, particularly in the fields a of Forensic Ballistics, Correctional Administration, and Marksmanship and Combat Shooting. As an enthusiast of practical shooting, he finished his National Range Officers Course in 2012. His stint in the academe has made him the recipient of numerous recognitions and awards from both government and private institutions. These include the outstanding criminologist award in 2014 from the Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines (PCAP). At present, he is a member of the PCAP, Philippine Criminalistics Society (PhilCSI), and the 1911 Foresite Gun Club of Mountain Province.
