Introduction to Criminology is designed and organized for criminology faculty members and students to understand criminology concepts in their simplest form in an Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) pattern. Every lesson has its learning outcomes that specifically target what the students should learn at the end of each lesson. Series of activities are also included in every lesson to support and clarify the concepts. The content of this book is specifically organized to follow the new topic outlines of the subject Introduction to Criminology as per Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order No. 5, series of 2018. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

MARIA THERESA RAMONIDA AMPARADO

She is a full-time faculty member at PHINMA Cagayan de Oro College. She is a registered criminologist and was the Top 9 in the 2008 Criminologist Licensure Examination. She is a graduate of Master of Science in Criminal Justice with Specialization in Criminology at the University of Baguio. Currently, she is in her sophomore year, taking up a Doctor of Philosophy in Criminal Justice with Specialization in Criminology at the University of Mindanao in Matina, Davao City.

ABOUT THE COORDINATOR

GERRY J. CAÑO, PHD

He is a criminologist by profession, with strong linkages among criminologists here and abroad. He is a member of the American Society of Criminology, Asian Criminological Society, International Society of Criminology, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Technical Panel for Criminal Justice Education, and Professional Regulation Commission’s Continuing Professional Development Council of Criminology. He is also the convenor of the 11th Asian Criminology Society Conference. Dr. Caño is the dean of the College of Criminology, PHINMA Cagayan de Oro College (COC). Through his vision and leadership in action, PHINMA COC has become a consistent producer of top-notch graduates who are often on the roster of successful board examinees. Moreover, COC is becoming well-known for its remarkable board-passing performance under the continued guidance of Dean Caño. Under his management, COC has been bestowed the Center of Excellence in Criminology Award by CHED. He is instrumental in shaping the direction of the criminology education and profession in the country, consequently resulting in the passage of Republic Act No.11131, also known as the Philippine Criminology Profession Act of 2018.
