A Course Module for the Contemporary World

A Course Module for the Contemporary World aims to help learners reflect and engage in conversations about the complex issues and dimensions of globalization that human societies face in today’s world. This module is designed to be transdisciplinary by enabling learners to integrate theoretical lenses and methodological tools of various disciplines: learner-centered by empowering learners to enhance their own agency in learning through self- directed exercises and reflective activities; and outcomes-based by aligning activities and assessment to a set of outcomes.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

NEPHTALY JOEL B. BOTOR

He is a licensed professional teacher in values education and a registered psychometrician. He is an assistant professor at the Department of Human and Family Development Studies and the program head of its Pintig Adolescent Development Program within the College of Human Ecology, University of the Philippines-Los Baños (UPLB). He obtained his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the Ateneo de Naga University and his master’s degree in education (guidance) from UP-Diliman. His specialization is in counseling, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in emergency settings, and gender and sexuality. He provides technical assistance to government and nongovernment agencies in the aspects of gender and development (GAD), education, and mental health.

ERIC PAUL D. PERALTA

He is a lawyer by profession. He is an assistant professor at the Department of Human and Family Development Studies and the director of the University of the Philippines-Los Baños (UPLB) Gender Center. At UPLB, he teaches migration subjects where the legal basis of international relations is covered. His specialization is in law, policy and program development, gender and development, gender-based violence, and sexual harassment. He provides technical assistance to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the aspect of addressing gender-based violence in state universities and colleges (SUCs), higher education institutions (HEIs), and various government agencies.

RAPHAEL M. FERRER

He is an experienced assistant professor, resource speaker/trainer, and researcher with a demonstrated history of working in the field of college education in the Department of Human and Family Development Studies, College of Human Ecology, University of the Philippines-Los Baños (UPLB). He is a registered social worker skilled in community organizing, community psychology, and conducting social psychological research. He completed his Master of Arts in Psychology with a focus in Applied Social Psychology from the Ateneo de Manila University and a bachelor’s degree in social work from UP-Diliman.
