Understanding the Self

Understanding the Self is a fundamental course in the General Education Curriculum for tertiary education. This book is designed to help students understand the nature of identity, including factors that influence and shape personal identity. Today, issues of self and identity are crucial to adolescents, and this book intends to aid them in developing a more critical and reflective attitude when exploring such concerns and, consequently, understanding themselves better. Moreover, this book encourages students to integrate their personal experiences with learning opportunities and experiences in the classroom, and in the process, encourage self- improvement, gain and apply new skills, have a better quality of life, and, overall, become better and more significant individuals in our society. Propelled by a deep sense of mission to empower the Filipino youth, the authors embarked on writing this book as a humble contribution to building a great nation with people who understand and celebrate their identities and best selves.
