Teaching Profession: Passion and Mission was written to help student teachers understand and appreciate the teaching profession as a personal lifetime commitment to make a difference in the lives of learners. This book will help student teachers understand that teaching is a dynamic field influenced by several factors such, as teachers, students, schools, laws, other disciplines and academic fields, and society. It also emphasizes that teachers are dedicated professionals ready to respond to the different needs, demands, and challenges of the learners and the society where they live or thrive. The first part of this book discusses the personal and professional lives of teachers. It is followed by a discussion on the professional competencies that a teacher should possess. The third part talks about the national and global challenges that teachers can help address, and the last part talks about the legal bases of the teaching profession. All the activities in this book are designed to develop the critical thinking of student teachers. Guided by the OBE transformational approach, this book aims to develop student teachers who can be servant leaders in the field of education. Teaching Profession: Passion and Mission
