This textbook is designed for Filipino students taking up an undergraduate course in economics, whether in social sciences or business and management programs. It is titled Managerial Economics in the 21st Century to highlight that the textbook involves contemporary issues related to studying the subject matter. Various media have reported that economics has been a common topic among Filipinos, especially the youth, who perceive such a topic as a critical issue. However, researchers explained that Filipinos do not have a sufficient understanding of the state of our economy. This motivated the author to create a resource that would augment this awareness among the Filipinos and hopefully aid them in participating more in discussions, decisions, and actions toward a better economy. CHRISTIAN ELIGIUS A. JIMENEZ, CPA, LPT, CFE, CLSSGB, PMP, MDE
Mr. Jimenez is a certified public accountant and a licensed professional teacher, focusing on social science. He completed his Master in Development Economics at the University of the Philippines-Diliman and is currently a bank supervisor at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, where he also facilitates the Professional Excellence Program of the organization. He is a project management professional and a certified fraud examiner. He is also a certified Lean Six Sigma greenbelt. Mr. Jimenez is also the chairperson of the Department of Legal Management and Social Sciences of Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila and a faculty member at the University of Santo Tomas-Manila, Philippine Normal University-Manila, and Lourdes School-QC. He has taught Applied Economics, Operations Management, Financial Management, Fraud Examination, Micro and Macroeconomics, Total Quality Management, Philippine Government and Constitution, and Business Ethics at Far Eastern University-Manila, Adamson University, ABE International College-Cubao, and National University-Fairview. He is also a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) assessor for National Certificate III (NCIII) Bookkeeping and Events Management qualifications. As the head of the Professional Training and CPD Programs of Orgdev Internationale, Mr. Jimenez has been providing training and consulting services to international companies, government agencies, academic institutions, and non-government organizations such as Coca-Cola, Volvo Philippines, IBM Shared Services, Department of Education, Department of Transportation, ASEAN SOGIE Caucus, Metropolitan Medical Center, and Prulife UK. He is pursuing his Doctor of Business Administration at Ateneo de Davao University and his Juris Doctor degree at Arellano University School of Law while being the Review Director of MET Review Center CALABARZON branch, teaching social sciences to applicants of the Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers.
