Students show off «scary» acting skills Go Bump in the Night for the rewarding sounds of shrieks and screams of visitors touring through the House of Terror, the FogMaze, or going on the actual wagon tour itself with the not-so-comforting company of a weird-looking wagon driver.

"e one who “spooks” #rst “spooks” best is a lesson students from schools in Ham- mond and other areas of Prescott-Russell enjoyed learning and practising as they moaned and groaned around the mazes, among the fruit trees, and inside the House of Terror and along the SpookyWagon Ride tour route at Cannemore Orchard. It’s Saturdaymorning, a week before Hal- loween, and the weather has turned blustery as students from schools in both Prescott- Russell and Dundas counties commuted to the Cannamore Orchard near Embrun for their weekend acting assignments during the annual SpookyWagon Ride.!ey got to play the ghosties, ghoulies and!ings!at
At one end of the change shed, in the bright natural light streaming through a large window, a couple students sit still on stools for their makeup sessions. At the other end of the building, other students sort through the hat tree of pullover mask, mulling over what kind of "end they want to be that day. Over at the costume racks several students are deep in discussion about the biology of zombies, including debating a couple points that never seem to get covered in either!e Walking Dead or ZNation television series or any of the many zombie movies in theatres and on DVD.
Step right up and pick your favourite from this ghoulish group. "ere’s Stephanie “"e Void” Burnett of Limoges, Matthew “Mad Doctor” Gill of Rockland, Katherine “Skullface” Lortier fromBourget, Margaret “EgyptianUndead”Myers fromRockland, Farane “Googly Eyes” Zaidi of Rockland, and Jennie “Victim” Mills from Forest Hill.

Claire Taylor, co-owner at Cannemore Orchard, explained that the post-harvest project began through the inspiration of her son who was in the school band. Since then there’s been an annual tradition of school
involvement in the SpookyWagon Ride as a fundraising project for extracurricular sports or other club activities. “!ere’s always been at least one school involved,” Taylor said. “It’s been either a sports team or a school band.” !is October, the student sta# at Spooky Wagon Ride has come from schools inNorth Dundas Township, Russell Township, and the City of Clarence-Rockland.
