es define and measure excellence in a rapidly changing marketplace. Is excellence primarily about operational efficiency? Customer service? Innovation? Sustainability? Employee development? Or the ability to adapt and stay resilient in uncertain times? Rather than presenting a single answer, the panel will encourage delegates to compare approaches, challenge assumptions and learn directly from their peers. This exchange of best practice lies at the heart of the Print- er-to-Printer Seminar concept and reflects FINAT’s com- mitment to creating opportunities for honest, practical in- dustry dialogue. For label converters, the discussion offers valuable benchmarking opportunities and real-life examples from fellow business leaders. For suppliers, it provides direct insight into the priorities, challenges and decision-making processes of their customers. End-Use Discussions Another major highlight of the program will be the end-user panel, which brings the perspective of brand owners directly to the P2P audience. FINAT members consistently express the desire to hear more from the companies that ultimately specify, select and influence packaging solutions. The end-user session addresses that demand by creating a platform for dialogue between converters, suppliers and brand representatives. Among the contributors is Stefan Casey, founder of Lightning Tree and a leader in packaging, branding and de- sign. Throughout his career, Casey has worked with some of the world’s most recognized brands across FMCG, luxu- ry, beauty and beverage sectors, including Nestlé, Diageo, Pernod Ricard, Campari, Jameson, Estée Lauder, Twinings, Boots, Levi’s and BAT. His experience spans packaging innovation, sustain- ability transformation, fibre-based packaging solutions and the emerging role of AI in package design and brand development. Bringing this perspective into a P2P envi- ronment creates an opportunity for delegates to better understand how brand owners view packaging challeng- es, what they expect from supply-chain partners and how collaboration can deliver greater value. For both converters and suppliers, understanding the priorities of brand owners is increasingly important as sustainability requirements, regulatory developments and consumer expectations continue to evolve. As the European label industry continues to navigate change, the FINAT Printer-to-Printer Seminar aims to pro- vide something increasingly valuable: a forum where peo- ple can learn from each other’s successes, discuss com- mon challenges and explore together what excellence will look like for the next generation of label printers. The tool reportedly helps companies assess the technical recyclability of plastic packaging and portfo- lios, flag missing information and design optimizations, and evaluate compliance with California’s Labeling Law, SB343. Add-on features will also allow compa- nies to calculate EPR fees in applicable United States and Canadian regions. As EPR laws and labeling requirements expand across North America, companies face increasing pressure to demonstrate that their packaging meets recyclability requirements. Many recycling require- ments are based on APR Design Guidance: Canadian Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs) have aligned on the APR Design Guide as the authority for plastic packaging design guidance, California requires alignment with the APR Design Guide in its EPR (SB 54) and Labeling (SB 343) laws, and several other states use APR as the benchmark for recyclable plastic packaging design. To help companies prepare for and comply with these upcoming regulations, APR partnered with sus- tainable packaging software solutions company Re- cyda to connect the technical guidance of the APR Design Guide with a robust software platform that au- tomated the assessment process. The APR Design Assessment Tool guides users through a series of steps to understand packaging makeup and recyclability. It identifies missing informa- tion, highlights potential design incompatibilities, rec- ommends opportunities to improve recyclability, and assigns an APR Design classification: Preferred De- sign for Recycling, Tolerated but Needs Improvement, Non-Recyclable, or Requires Testing.
