After graduation, she plans to attend Snead State on an athletic scholarship while pursing a degree in Elementary Education.

Plainview quarterback Trey Rutledge runs the football during the 2023 season. Rutledge has been the Bear's starting quarterback for the past two seasons. Last fall he was selected for the All-DeKalb County Team and he earned second team All-Region honors. He is a Four Year Varsity Letter in football and baseball. In baseball he was named to the 2023 All- County Team and earned 2nd team All-State honors. He was also the 2024 Dekalb County Tournament MVP. Trey is a 4.0 student and has scored a 34 on his ACT Test. He was second in the state this year in the National Beta Club Mathematics Test. Last year he finished third in the state and 7th in the nation. In 2022 he won first place at the State Technology Fair in Multidimensional Design/3D Modeling and Website Design. Trey is involved in numerous clubs and organizations. His achievements also include the 2024 Ledger Leader award. His Junior classmate Lauren Jimmerson also earned the award. Academy’s Jake Nelson and Sadie Camp have both been selected as recipients for the newspaper's annual 2024 Ledger Leader awards. Jake Nelson is a four-sport standout at Cornerstone Christian. He competes in Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Track. He is also on the fishing team. Over the past three years, Jake has achieved remarkable success in football, consistently earning recognition as both an offensive and defensive player of the game on multiple occasions. His skill and dedication have earned him a spot on the prestigious ACAA All- State/All-Conference Team for his sophomore and junior seasons. Notably, he was also named the ACAA Punter of the Year for two consecutive years during this time. Furthermore, Jake's talent and hard work have been acknowledged on a national level, as he was selected as an 8-Man Football All-American for his outstanding performance during his junior season. Jake achievements in football are a testament to his exceptional skill, determination, and his commitment to excellence. He continues to inspire and set an example for his teammates and peers alike. Jake, along with Jess Nelson, also recently won their second consecutive ACAA State Bass Fishing Championship in the senior high boat division. The teammates reeled in a total weight of 10 lbs and 9 oz. A total of 34 boats competed in the championship fishing tournament, which was held in Clanton, AL.
dedicated individual who has served at Ponderosa Bible for the past 6 summers. Jake has earned over 400 community service hours each year, making a significant impact in the lives of children and teens. Ponderosa Bible is a non-profit ministry that focuses on positively impacting children and teens, including those in foster care and those whose parents are incarcerated. Through a Christian camping experience, Ponderosa provides love, support, and encouragement to these young individuals. Jake's commitment and service reflect the spirit of making a difference in the lives of others and he truly exemplifies what the Ledger Leader awards are about. Sadie Camp is also very deserving of the Ledger Leader award. She is a basketball and softball standout at Cornerstone Christian. In addition to a 4.0 GPA, she has earned numerous accolades as a student athlete. She was the State Tournament MVP in basketball. Sadie also won the Basketball Coaches Award and was named to the ACAA All-State Tournament 1st Team. She also earned the title of the “Most Explosive Player” in Basketball. In Softball, she was named to the ACAA All- State 2nd Team. Outside of school and athletics, Sadie has worked as an Operation Christmas Child Coordinator. She has also been involved with Backpacks of Blessings, her Church Nursery, with the Chamber of Commerce, and at Vacation Bible School.

A pair of basketball players from Asbury High School have been selected for the 2024 Ledger Leader awards. Lucas Wyatt and Perla Zurita are both standout athletes for the Rams and both have 4.0 GPA's. 2024 Asbury Ledger Leaders JSU Football To Face UCF in 2025 Season Opener Jacksonville State will kick the 2025 season off on a Thursday night at UCF. The Gamecocks and Knights will play the 2025 season opener on Thursday, August 28 at FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando. It will be just the second game against a Big 12 opponent for Jax State, who played at Kansas in 2003. The game wraps up Jax State's 2025 non-conference slate, joining previously announced matchups at Georgia Southern on Sept. 13, vs. Murray State on Sept. 20 and at Southern Miss on Sept. 27. It will also be the third-straight year that the Gamecocks will face a Power 5 program after playing at South Carolina in 2023 and at Louisville in 2024. The Gamecocks are gearing up for their first season as a full-fledged member of the Football Bowl Subdivision and of Conference USA in 2024 after an historic 2023 transition season. They went 9-4 and became the first team in history to win a bowl game in a transition season with a 34-31 overtime victory over Louisiana in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. General admission season tickets are just $75, while season tickets in the Stadium Club are priced at $650 and include a chairback seat, as well as a pregame meal and unlimited snacks and soft drinks during the game. Multiple suites overlooking the west end zone and other premium options will be available in the Loring and Debbie White Football Complex, as will new outdoor concourse suites on the North side of the stadium.
