The Gadsden State Community College Health Sciences Division recognized students earning their associate degree in Registered Nursing during a recent pinning ceremony. Students presented with awards for achievement during the ceremony included: Carley Anna Holman was the recipient of the highly-coveted Florence Nightingale Award, which recognizes those who are the most committed to caring and compassionate nursing care. Hanna Latimer was the recipiant of The Excellence in Academic Achievement Award recognizes the nursing graduate with the highest grade point average. Scholarships available for females Over $75,000 in scholarships are up for grabs for female students at Gadsden State Community College who are enrolled in select career technical programs. Qualified programs include Auto Collision Repair, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Automotive Service Technology, Diesel Technology, Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Electronic Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, Industrial Automation Technology, Mechanical Design Technology and Welding Technology. Alan Smith, dean of Workforce Development, said the purpose of these scholarships is to promote diversity, equity and inclusion in Gadsden State’s career technical programs. New and current female students at Gadsden State are eligible for the scholarships that may cover summer and fall semesters. Current students interested in the scholarships should notify their instructor of the qualified program and complete the Federal Vocational Applications. New students must apply to Gadsden State and be accepted. Once they are accepted, they should contact Gina Martin in the Workforce Development Division at 256.549.8600. The deadline to apply is May 29.
