I consider myself a creative person with incredible drive and persistence when it comes to manifesting my personal goals and ambitions. I also have a highly sensi- tive nervous system, and for years, was always prone to health issues that ZRXOGÀDUHXSZKHQ,ZDVRYHUO\VWUHVVHGDQGDQ[LRXV,UHDOL]HGP\UH - VSRQVHVWRFRQÀLFWDQGRYHUZKHOPZRXOGRIWHQEXLOGXSWRDSRLQWZKHUH, JRWVLFNRUVX̆ HUHGDQHQRUPRXVHPRWLRQDOIDOORXW6LFNQHVVGXULQJWKHVH high stress moments usually looked like pneumonia or some type of re- spiratory illness. I also noticed I tended to hold my breath when stressed. When I was preparing for my comprehensive writing assignments FRPSV GXULQJP\GRFWRUDOSURJUDPLQ,GHFLGHG,KDGWREHSURDF - tive regarding handling the stress that I knew would be coming. Although , KDG KHDUG DERXW 5HLNL LQ WKH HDUO\ ¶V LW ZDVQ¶W XQWLO WKLV WLPH LQ ZKHQ,GHFLGHGWRVWXG\5HLNLDVDIRUPRIVWUHVVUHOLHIVR,ZRXOG not self-sabotage. I learned so much and implemented so many helpful tools to get ahead of the stress this time around that I decided to push on LQP\5HLNLWUDLQLQJ,VWXGLHG8VXL+RO\)LUH5HLNLXQGHUWKHLQVWUXFWLRQ RIPDVWHUWHDFKHU-DQLFH%XHUNOLDQGJRWFHUWL¿HGDVD0DVWHU7HDFKHULQ 6LQFHEHJLQQLQJP\5HLNLSDWKZD\,¿QLVKHGP\GLVVHUWDWLRQRQKRPH - VFKRROLQJ ZKLOH WKH FRXQWU\ ZDV HQJXOIHG LQ &29,' TXDUDQWLQH 0\ dissertation landed me a publishing deal, and that book, Homeschooling %ODFN&KLOGUHQLQWKH86 ZDVUHOHDVHGLQ,ODWHUEHFDPHWKH3RHW Laureate of the county where I live, and went on to publish two poetry FROOHFWLRQV LQ DQG , VKDUH WKLV QRW WR EUDJ EXW WR LOOXVWUDWH how Reiki helped me relax, center and focus on my writing projects. I
