STYLING THE ENTRYWAY & GALLERY WALL
DECORAT ING T I PS • A mirror is a great suggestion to get one last look before heading out. • Rugs serve a dual purpose in the entryway, helping to add aesthetic beauty while also catching some of the dirt and debris of the outdoors before it makes its way into the rest of the home. • A foyer seems bigger than it actually is when the same flooring is used in the entryway and in the rooms it adjoins. • Keep accessories simple and cohesive so that the room does not look over cluttered. If there are no drawers for storage, consider a tray to keep keys, phones, mail etc. • Ambient and accent lighting are good choices to create a sense of ease. Task lighting is not really needed in this space. Entry lighting can also energize a person’s impression of the home when used to highlight a dramatic painting, sculpture or architectural detail. • The entryway is a great spot for an eclectic wall like a memory gallery wall. • A console can also hold a decorative display to set the design tone for the rest of the home. Assemble attractive decorative objects that reflect the design priorities and provides a stylish ambience for your clients entrance. • For the outside suggest the following • Welcome mat • Lighting • Seasonal décor (wreath, boxwood etc.)
