STEP 2 : MEASUR ING & ARRANGING THE FURNI TURE Once the space plan is finished, it’s time to insert the furniture. • Measure and note the length and width of each furniture piece the client plans to keep in the room. • Note lengths and widths of furniture pieces the client is considering purchasing. • Draw each furniture piece to scale on the finished space plan using the same formula. For example, an 83 inch sofa length divided by 12 = 6.9 grid squares. • Write the name of each furniture piece on each drawing or cutout i.e. “Presidio Sofa.” • Coloring each furniture piece with colored pencil may help the client visualize how color is mixed throughout the room.
