PRESENTATIONS

BEFORE THE PRESENTAT ION • Contact the client prior to the consultation to confirm the appointment • Pull the following together in a professional presentation: • Completed space plan (3D planner and/or hand sketched). • Product recommendations based on the agreed upon color/finish/pattern palette as well as the client’s style. • Prepared client estimate forms and delivery times. • The more prepared you are the more confident you will be in the presentation. • Pre-select a location on the sales floor that is comfortable and quiet such as a lifestyle in a low traffic zone. Do not attempt to give a client presentation at or near the cashwrap. DUR ING THE PRESENTAT ION • Offer coffee or water to drink. • Walk through the design plan (or mood board) that you have created, emphasizing the key points that you know are important to your client. This will reinforce that you’ve taken what you’ve learned about their style, priorities and budget and created the best plan uniquely for them. • It is helpful to walk through the plan in a certain order as to not confuse or overwhelm your client: • Begin with a general overview of the room layout: “I’ve placed the bed to the left here with a great view out the windows, and a bench at the foot. There is a seating area for reading here by the fireplace and the armoire for your TV, easily visible from both the seating area and the bed.” • Then go into the colors and foundational product recommendations: “The walls are a neutral beige to play off the stone fireplace. We’ve have the Point Reyes bed, flanked by the Alton nightstands in Navy, and the Chelsea Wing — back chairs in marine Belgian linen to tie in with the shades of blue from your Mykonos rug.” • Finally share the décor ideas and lighting plan: • Pre-determine credit card or KEY rewards • Paper and pencil to take further notes.

“On this wall you can hang your framed art and add some Ginger jars on your antique dresser. For the lighting plan — The Cayman chandelier will hang over the bed and the arc floor lamp will provide ample light for the seating area. For the bedding I recommend the Italian Border sateen in the Navy.”
