EMBRACE NEUTRALS AS A FOUNDAT ION • Use neutrals as a foundation for all rooms when possible • Use as much texture as possible for more visual interest • Layering neutral textures such as linens, velvets, knits and furs create a sense of depth • Neutrals become the platform for layering fashion and color 3 . OWN THE WALL • Every room needs to have a focal point • Strategically use mirrors to create drama • Work in the customer’s existing art and family photos • The wall is an underutilized space for storage 4 . PUNCTUATE THE SPACE • Punctuate the space with whimsy, scale, print and pattern • Balance with intentional tension • Vintage furniture and eclectic found pieces are great ways to make spaces unique and create interest. • Create pause in a space... negative space is your friend 5 . MEASURE THR ICE , CUT ONCE • Make sure you measure the rooms • Can all doors open and close without catching on rugs and furniture? • A dining chair must have 20" of pull out space • Where are the power outlets located? Will they work with the placement of consoles, bedside tables, etc. • You can never have too much storage • Pay attention to the functionality and traffic flow of the space • Focus on scale — make sure the selected furniture fits into the space
