The WIOA Adult program witnessed numerous transformative stories, none more compelling than Yadira's. After a challenging six-month period of unemployment, Yadira, a dedicated single mother of two, sought to elevate her healthcare career beyond her previous medical assistant certification, acquired through WIOA Youth services. Recognizing her need for increased earning potential to support her family, she enrolled in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Associate of Science Degree program at Southern Technical College. Yadira's journey was marked by unwavering determination. Balancing the demands of parenthood with rigorous academic study, she consistently excelled, maintaining an impressive 3.72 GPA. In June 2024, her hard work culminated in graduation, a testament to her resilience and commitment. Just two months later, Yadira's dedication paid off as she secured a position as an Ultrasonographer I at Lakeland Regional Hospital, transitioning from unemployment to a rewarding career earning $42.00 per hour.
