Tampa Bay Summer Hires

United Way Suncoast $260,000

Since launching in 2019, Tampa Bay Summer Hires (TBSH), has provided more than 2,500 low-income and disadvantaged youth with paid work experience and access to career exploration activities, work readiness skills and financial literacy training. Youth can participate in one of three tracks offered over the course of 4-8 weeks: Paid Work Experience, Virtual Career Exploration and Leadership Academy. Youth also participate in a youth summit; receive financial literacy education and employability skills training; and earn incentives, certifications and credentials during program participation. Youth must be Hillsborough County residents and meet additional eligibility requirements. For more information and to apply, please visit www.TampaBaySummerHires.com.

United Way Suncoast awarded CareerSource Tampa Bay (now CareerSource Hillsborough Pinellas) a $260,000, three-year grant to support the Tampa Bay Summer Hires program, which provides paid work experience, career exploration, and leadership training services to underserved Hillsborough County youth. This Community Investment Fund grant provides additional funding to youth who may not qualify for state and federal workforce programs, such as young adults from ALICE (Asset-Limit, Income-Constrained, Employed) families.

Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring $9,244 In a second year of funding, Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring awarded CareerSource Tampa Bay (now CareerSource Hillsborough Pinellas) a $9,244 grant to support the Tampa Bay Summer Hires program, which provides paid work experience, career exploration, and leadership training services to underserved Hillsborough County youth. This grant provides additional funding to youth who may not qualify for state and federal workforce programs.
