Message from The President,
Family, friends, and fellow members
Welcome to the 2024 NYPD Saint Paul’s Society Scholarship Dinner Dance. We hope you enjoy tonight’s festivities; full of good food, good company and great music by Asteri Entertainment. We thank you all for joining us in celebrating our Society . A society that has done so much, not only for our members, but for the NYPD, and for the safety and well-being of the citizens that make up our city. To begin, let me tell you a little bit about our Society, and the men and women that make up its membership. Our history begins in 1958, when New York City Police Officers adhering to the Eastern Orthodox Faith got together as a group and formed the Saint Paul’s Society: A society where officers could get together, bonded not only by their profession, but also through their shared heritage and religion. From what began as a modest group of Orthodox Christian Officers, it has grown to what it is today; a Family of more than 500 members. Today, our Society boasts members not only on patrol, but also in specialized units such as Highway, K-9, FID, IAB, JTTF, Intel. Medical Division, and the Community Affairs Bureau. Our ranks have swelled in the past few years, and we proudly include not only Police Officers in our membership, but also Detectives, Sergeants, Lieutenants, Captains, and Inspectors. We are also privileged to have members that hail from State and Federal agencies as well.
I would like to thank the Board, the membership, our and all those who donated their time to make this night an absolute success..
I would also like to take this time to thank all those who contributed to our scholarship fund. Without your help, these educational opportunities given to our children would not be possible. And a special mention to my wife, my children, my parents and brother - without whose endless support, nothing would be achievable!! I would like to congratulate Deputy Commissioner Lisa D. White and her whole staff at Employee Relations. Thank you for the great work you all do day in and day out.
Lastly but not least, I would like to congratulate our Past President on his recent retirement this year in 2024. Nicholas has always been there, from day one. His fraternal spirit and dedication to the Saint Paul’s Society does not go unnoticed. Like many others before us, Nicholas continues to promote the Greek Eastern Orthodox Religious values. 19+ years ago Nick signed me up as a member of the society in the academy. As a board member myself handling multiple positions along side Nicholas over the course of the last 10 years and recently becoming the new President of the Saint Paul’s Society I will continue to promote that fraternal spirit and values. It’s not easy being in charge of a society, when you do it for such a long time it just looks easy. The reality of it is, a position like the president comes with great deal of responsibility, determination, leadership and you have to have the heart for the position. Nicholas always had that and continues to do so, the former past presidents had it ans well and I will continue to keep it going. Without the motivation, collaboration and teamwork of the membership along with the board as a whole, the society would not be where it is today. Nicholas has not only been a mentor to me, but a long time friend I can call a brother in blue filled with knowledge, humbleness and guidance.
