Building A Thriving Innovation Economy

Tell more stories Using our evidence and learnings, we will tell more stories of the African entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem in our words. Our research will enable us to surface critical innovation stories from across Africa.

Strategic Pillar 4: Institutional Development for Long Term Sustainability

Improve the organisational, technical, and financial capacity of AfriLabs to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship across Africa .

We acknowledge that we can not offer the best to our hub members if we ourselves are not operating at our best. We have worked to critically assess our internal processes and increase our capacity to deliver and to provide our team members with a pleasant work environment and opportunities for professional and personal development.

As a team, we have contributed intently to defining the AfriLabs culture, and clarity on our values and purpose has inspired our revamped strategic direction for the next 10 years.

Over the next ten years we will:

Refine our business processes Our community presents an invaluable resource of critical data, which we need to continuously We are refining our human resources, operations and internal communications policies, and communication processes to reflect our increasingly diverse team and to optimise our systems. This will ensure that we are able to engage effectively with members and partners across the globe. Diversify our team Over the next few years we will ensure that the diversity of our membership is reflected in our team, presence and work across the continent. We currently have team members in Nigeria, Kenya, Cameroon and Ghana and look forward to more strategic hires across the African continent. As we embrace virtual working, we are ensuring that all our internal systems put our people first so that wherever they are located on the continent, they feel connected, feel heard and are able to work optimally as part of the AfriLabs secretariat. Develop and deploy different frameworks for regional and national representation. We will explore different ways in which we might have a strong regional or national presence in some instances. This may take the form of regional hires or an ambassador program that sees hub networks and hubs in all countries where we have a presence contributing more directly to AfriLabs work, including advising on collaborative interventions for their communities.
