A Tale of Cleverness & Caution
1
O nce, on the sunlit shores of Mauritius, a clever crab named Krabie lived near a shallow lagoon. Krabie was cautious and always aware of the dangers lurking nearby, particularly from the herons that roamed the area. These tall birds, with their sharp beaks, were always on the lookout for a tasty meal. One day, a heron named Sirandann, who was known for his slyness, spotted Krabie scuttling along the water’s edge. Hungry and eager to catch the crab, Sirandann approached Krabie with a cunning plan. He decided to trick the crab into thinking he was a friend.“Good day, Krabie,” Sirandann said, leaning down with a smile. “I’ve noticed the water in this lagoon has been drying up lately. Soon, you’ll have no place to live. But I know of a wonderful, deep pond just beyond the hills, where you’ll have plenty of water and safety.”
