The Crab & The Heron

A Tale of Cleverness & Caution

3

Sirandann agreed, hiding his true intentions. He gently picked up Krabie in his beak and started flying toward the hills. As they flew over the lagoon, Krabie noticed that Sirandann wasn’t heading toward any pond but was instead flying higher, looking for a place to devour him. Realizing the danger, Krabie quickly clamped his sharp claws onto Sirandann’s beak, causing the bird to squawk in pain. “Let me go, or I’ll pinch harder!” Krabie warned. Panicking and in pain, Sirandann swooped down and dropped Krabie safely back into the lagoon. The clever crab scurried back into the water, unharmed, while Sirandann flew off, humiliated and hungry. From that day on, Krabie remained more cautious, and Sirandann never tried to trick him again. The tale of the crab and the heron spread across the shores, teaching everyone that cleverness and caution can outwit even the most cunning of enemies.
