IRS Offers Special Tax Breaks Many business owners know the IRS offers certain tax breaks for small businesses, but did you know there are special tax breaks you can take advantage of to reduce the cost of your next truck? Section 179 of the United States Internal Revenue Code (26 U.S.C. § 179) gives taxpayers the option to deduct the cost associated with certain types of property. Eligible property should be tangible, depreciable, personal property that was acquired for use in the active conduct of trade or business. This means trucks are applicable! Plus, in addition to standard depreciation on new trucks, bonus depreciation may also be available. 2017 Limitations For 2017, the maximum Section 179 deduction available is $500,000 on qualified equipment put into service in 2017. This may include new Isuzu commercial trucks, and bonus depreciation on new equipment may be available if put into service in 2017. Your Advantage (One well-equipped Isuzu diesel truck with 16-foot body) Equipment purchase: $75,000

First-year depreciation and write-off:

$75,000

Potential tax savings this year: (Assuming a 35 percent tax rate x $75,000) $26,250 Equipment after-tax cost: (Excludes interest and interest deductions) $48,750

With such incredible savings, you’re left with the perfect opportunity to include a Priority Service Maintenance Program for about $5 per day, which covers all your scheduled preventive maintenance for up to five years and 200,000 miles. You may even want to include some additional equipment! It’s hard to go wrong. Your Transportation Consultant One benefit is that you don’t need to pay for the vehicle in cash or pull from your credit line. You have the option of financing or leasing the vehicle at very attractive rates, with little or no money out of your pocket, subject to credit approval. Keep in mind, this is not tax advice. Please talk with your accountant or tax specialist about Section 179 benefits and your specific tax situation. Let’s get together and discuss your transportation needs and see how our dealership and Isuzu commercial trucks fit your business.
