A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7

This week Year 7 students were issued with their Chromebooks which caused much excitement. They have been reminded about the Chromebook code of conduct and we hope they enjoy using these in lessons and at home to support their learning. Our Rugby and Football Teams had matches this week, with the Year 7 Touch Rugby team winning against Turing House on Wednesday with a score of 20-5! Congratulations to player of the Match: Pamela L 7FLY. On Thursday the Year 7/8 football team played away against Teddington school. We look forward to sharing that match report with you next week. On Friday students wore red in support of charity ‘Show Racism the Red Card’. Well done to Year 7 for support- ing this initiative and being creative in their ways to wear red. A huge thank you to the students for taking part and to their parents and carers for all donations made thus far. Please continue to do so via ParentPay.

Currently Pankhurst tutor groups are topping the tutor group leader board for Epraise: 7PCO are in 1st place, 7PFO second and 7ESU are 3rd.

Very well done to Mia B 7PFO who is in 2nd place in the whole school leaderboard for Epraise points.

On the last day of the half-term (Friday 25th October), Year 7 students are invited to wear anything pink to raise money and awareness for breast cancer charities. Year 7 students do not need to wear their uniform on this day but can come to school with clothing and accessories as pink as possible! Please note that students should not buy anything for this day - a pink ribbon or homemade pink badge is fine if your child/ren has no pink clothing. A reminder that makeup, varnish and hair dye are not allowed. A voluntary contribution for the charity can be made via ParentPay. We’ll end the half-term in a blaze of pink!

BOOK OF THE MONTH

Northern Lights by Philip Pullman

The first book of a majestic fantasy trilogy, Northern Lights introduces readers to the bold heroine, Lyra. Set in a sideways world, where everyone has a daemon in animal form, the story opens with the ominous news that children are going missing, which begins Lyra’s quest for knowledge.

This is a magical book, which is wonderful to read together with children, perhaps paired with the relatively recent BBC adaptation.
